Basically, if I don't stop downloading a twenty-minute show from HBO - a channel that I have to pay for digital cable and HBO in order to get - then Comcast has the right to shut down my ISP. The opinions of y'all here interest me, so. What does everyone think about this? Am I right in thinking it's a little ridiculous?
i don't know about everyone else here, but i'm all set to storm down to Comcast and demand they let people download everything they want, stolen or otherwise, and damn them to hell if they end up getting sued for not trying to stop it! i want to overthrow my government while swooning over Adrian Grenier!
but the crazy doesn't stop there, because chris_acheson has a good point! it's not theft because an episode of Entourage isn't physical. it's INFORMATION. you can't own the IDEA of a television show! it's all just regifting! and those guys are really rich anyway! WE ALL DESERVE TO SHARE THE IDEA OF ENTOURAGE.
LET US BREAK THE CHAINS OF OPPRESSION. THIS IS JUST LIKE INTERNET ROSA PARKS TIMES A BILLION ALL OVER AGAIN.
maybe i'd feel different if they were talking about sharing actual information, like cancer research, an AIDS cure, or the formula to create a JFK-zombie-killing magic bullet, but for fucks sake. Entourage.
