It's for... a friend! I'm just curious! I was on the moon at the time!

There's no crying in baseball

Over in chicagocubs, milenky pretty much posts about how he/she is sick of people complaining/lamenting about the trade of Micheal Barrett. That's fine, everyone is entitled to their opinion and it is community related. BUT, he/she uses some rather colorful language that's already been edited by the mods. </a></b></a>fightsactualfoo responds with: Alas, all your credibility is lost with the juvenile tone of your post.I have no strong feelings for or against Barrett, but come back for areal baseball talk when you're ready to stop saying "srsly". OP gets butt-hurt and then many people join in on the fun. Most comments are Cubs related... but the insults they hurl include fangirl references? and um, beer preferences?

It's all very strange.

Very small stupid but it's one of those "um what?" moments.

What constitutes a “stupid”?
Stupid, in the context of this community, is a statement or opinion which the average person, applying contemporary community standards, would identify as brainless, deficient, dense, dim, dumb, foolish, half-baked, half-witted, idiotic, imbecilic, inane, laughable, ludicrous, meaningless, mindless, moronic, naive, nonsensical, obtuse, pointless, senseless, simple-minded, thickheaded, unintelligent, or witless.

Nice.. Entire community flips their shit over a missing link.

Willy Wonka=child abuser

Over in feminist (yeah, I know), a post is made about troublesome icons being used in the community depicting violence against women and girls. Fair enough.

Apparently, though, an icon used by member mimicucumber depicting spoiled brat Veruca Salt from Willie Wonka and the Chocolate Factory (or is it Charlie? I always get the two titles confused) being, erm, physically requested to shut the fuck up, and STOP LICKING THE MAGICAL WALLPAPER, is offensive to michaelsullivan who claims that it is a picture of child abuse.

I get the critique of sexism in classic movies and fairy tales, and being one of those annoying feminists myself, I even appreciate it. But, seriously, Willy Wonka is a child abuser? If I were him I would have taken it a step further and slapped the little brat across her face.

(no subject)

In conservatism, irony-challenged reality_hammer thinks that practicing Islam should be considered a "hate crime".

If we go by his own definition, practicing Christianity should be a "hate crime" as well, given the crap that comes out of Pat Robertson's mouth and that there are plenty of passages in the Bible that are no less offensive than what can be found in the Koran (not that he'd ever say that, of course).

And since when are conservatives concerned with hates crimes anyway?
